Jeff Speck Speaks to Transpo Experts in Uptown

The most walkable neighborhood in Dallas is undergoing a major transformation, with the two-way conversion of McKinney Ave and Cole Ave and an update to the McKinney Ave trolley tracks.

To share best practices and insights on walkable cities with regional transportation experts, Uptown Dallas Inc. hosted Jeff Speck for an unforgettable 2 days including a public lecture, a private tour of Uptown, and VIP meetings with staff in the region. The Popken PopUps team organized the visit for Uptown Dallas, Inc.

As the foremost expert in designing transportation systems for walkable cities, Mr Speck shared his insights, advice, and best practices to a crowd of over 100 leading experts in the region, both in-person and online. Following the lecture, a panel of regional leaders and local experts discussed the future of transportation in Uptown, as it sets a model for DFW in best practices for walkable urban places.

The panel discussion moderated by Anthony Page, featured community members and special guests:

  • Nadine Lee, CEO of Dallas Area Rapid Transit

  • Michael Morris, Transportation Director of North Central Texas Council of Governments

  • Robert Perez, Assistant City Manager over Transportation & Public Works for City of Dallas
